The K-kids
had a wonderful week and stretched their minds with new learning.
Language Arts
Stations- The
pumpkin themed games this week the children identified B, M, E sounds. This skill is so important and a building
block for reading! The kiddos are doing a wonderful job trucking through their
‘just right’ leveled books.

Learning sight
words is fun when you get to write with shaving cream!
Writer’s Workshop
We brainstormed
various writing topics, which included: animals, people, places, and
events. This week as we focused on
events, the kiddos made a fantastic list that was meaningful to them and chose
one to write about. They enjoyed sharing their stories in the share chair this
week.
Math
We have continued building our number sense in math stations,
guided groups, and with math journals. We are working on finding new ways to
build different numbers. For example,
the number 8 can be made with 8+0, 0+8, 1+7, 7+1, 6+2, 2+6, and 4+4. This is a
wonderful number sense concept that we will work on all year long. We also
learned about the +, - , and =. Our last
big math discussion this week focused on the difference between 2D and 3D
shapes. See if you can find any of these shapes at home!
The K-kids
put on their scientist thinking caps as they observed a pumpkin using their 5 senses. Sticky, slippery, sphere, orange, and feels like ice where
a few descriptions shared. The pumpkin
was left out for the week for a fun sensory activity.
The K-kids
created art using salt and watercolor paint.
