The K-kids had a wonderful week diving into our Fall
thematic unit!
Literacy
Stations- The K-kids
identified syllables in fall and Halloween words. The K-kids used their thinking caps to
stretch out the word and write the sounds they heard. They were SO proud of their work!
Candy corn sight word roll!
Our Writing center is now open for business! This center focuses
on vocabulary and a specific writing skill. This week we learned how to label
our pictures.
For journals this week, we read the story, Mean Jean the Recess Queen. They
identified the characters, problem and solution. We worked in partners to
retell the story using key details.
Finally, the K-kids completed a craftivity of the main
character, Jean the recess queen, and drew their favorite part in the story.
Poetry books—This week we read a poem about Apples. The poem was sung to the tune of, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The kiddos followed along tracking the words
as they sung to this familiar tune.
Together they hunted for popcorn word. Also, this week they sorted pictures of rhyming
words. On Fridays I will send home their
poetry books and activities for you to share together and keep.
Math
Stations- The kiddos practiced adding numbers by rolling 2
dice and finding the total. We have been
practicing counting on. Also, in math journals they have been drawing math stories
for fact families of five and are learning how to show their thinking in
multiple ways with a picture and a number.
Thematic/Science—Why do leaves change color in the Fall?!
Ask your kiddo to answer the question of the week.
The K-kids met their 8th grade meeting buddies.
They loved sharing stories and getting to know their new friend. We will pair with our buddies every other
Friday for reading time and an activity!

Monster money. There are a variety of
new tickets in the prize bins which include: Show and Tell, Pajama Day, bring a
