Our literacy and Math stations are in
full swing. The kiddos love working with partners as they complete their
activities. For literacy stations this
week, the children did a rainbow write and phonics games. In math the children played a monster measuring
game, found the missing number, and played an addition and subtraction game. I enjoyed meeting with the kiddos individually
during this time and I am excited to see their growth this year!
In Literacy, we enjoyed listening to
the story, Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon. The children learned new comprehension skills
like visualizing, opinion and connection.
In Writer's Workshop, we have continued
working on stretching out our sounds and we love building our writing stamina.
In Music, the children played
instruments and danced to the song, Old Man Tucker. It was fun to see them so engaged in the song!

Leader In Me
We have also begun introducing our
Leader in Me character/leadership program. The past few weeks we have focused
on the first two habits for happy kids. 1. Be Proactive reminds us that we
should do the right thing even when no one is watching. It also reminds us that
we are in charge of our own moods, feelings, and attitudes. The K-Kids have
worked hard to be proactive the past week taking care of themselves, their
friends, and our classroom. This week we will focus on Habit 2- Begin with the
end in mind. This habit reminds us
about goal setting. We should strive to achieve our goals and think about cause
and effect when making decisions. As we continue learning and emphasizing
different habits, you will see these posted on the cubbies. The K-kids will be
creating a variety of projects based on the 7 habits. They will be displayed on the Leadership Tree
in the classroom!
Next week, we will start our Fall
Harvest unit, where we will be looking at the various fruits and vegetables
that are harvested in the Fall and studying their life cycles and patterns.
